Jurriaan Kamp
Jurriaan Kamp is a California-based Dutch entrepreneur, journalist, and author. He was born and raised in the Netherlands, where he studied International Law at Leyden University.
Kamp is co-founder and president of a startup, ONWARD Hydrogen, that is launching a clean energy innovation to produce clean hydrogen at a price that is compatible with natural gas today.
Kamp began his career as a journalist. He is known for his interviewing and interest in finding solutions for people and planet. As homage to people who are making the world a better place, he started the magazine Ode. Today, Kamp produces and hosts the climate solutions TV series THE WAY OUT for KCET/PBS Television and Earthx TV.
Kamp started as a journalist at the economics desk of the leading Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad. For the same paper and for Dutch radio and television, he served as correspondent in India. Subsequently, he was Chief Economics Editor of NRC Handelsblad before launching Ode magazine in The Netherlands.
In 2004, Kamp relocated to California, where he created and produced the international English edition of Ode (later The Optimist), allowing news on innovation and solutions to reach all corners of the world. In 2014, Kamp launched a daily online solutions news service, The Optimist Daily.
Kamp is the author of more than a dozen books addressing sustainability, innovation and solutions for people and planet—from LiFi, communication over light waves to a blueprint to clean up the plastic pollution in the world. His television interviews about climate solutions feature many world leaders including Sir Richard Branson, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Deepak Chopra, and Johan Rockstrom.
Kamp lives with his fiancée, Nancy McGrath, in Santa Barbara, California.
