Joulium Energy Limited is a UK based Limited company engaged in the research, development and commercialisation of Thermal Energy to Useful work – initially in waste heat to power generation solutions. Commercial medium and high-grade waste heat are a readily available and a free source of energy found in abundance in every developed country. Currently, the vast majority of this heat is not captured due to the lack of viable technology. Joulium has developed a solution that is significantly more efficient than any other system on the market and makes capturing this waste heat and converting it to electricity an extremely viable proposition.
Joulium has developed an environmentally friendly, synthetic drive fluid that can be used in a conventional turbine (with minor adjustments) that has significant advantages in terms of performance, efficiency and cost, requiring lower heat input, with greater usability and is fully sustainable. Patent protection has been applied for. Joulium’s prototype proving machine has shown to convert more of the available useable ‘waste’ energy to electricity than any other known waste heat recovery electricity generating system on the market, leading to a greater amount of MW power generated at substantially shorter payback times.
The technology and performance of the fluid have both been independently verified by Arup, the leading UK engineering company with a substantial footprint both domestically and internationally. Joulium has also secured an OEM with the capacity to scale production as required.
Joulium’s business model ultimately rests upon being an energy supplier where we are looking to exploit a Power Purchase or Base Load agreements. Such a model brings long term, predictable revenue secured by blue-chip agreements but does require that Joulium have to purchase and own the equipment.
In order to achieve this, Joulium is seeking to secure further funding to build, and test the first system and then to fund the pipeline of further larger installations, which should follow the first site by a matter of only a few months. The amount being asked for will allow Joulium to fund its operations to the point where they are generating sufficient cashflow that they are unlikely to need to return to the market again to raise further funding.
